Chainsaw man Denji is the main character of this series. There is a very vast collection of sonen anime series but what Chainsawman makes different from other anime series are its main character and his ambitions.
Denji is not like any other superhero who wants to save the world or be the most powerful. His ambitions are basic; he just wants good food and a comfortable life.

Who is Denji

Denji is the main character of this series and he is a chainsaw man as the name suggests he has the power of chainsaws.
At the story’s beginning, we saw him in front of his father’s grave. His father committed suicide because of his debt, and his mother died because of some disease. As a young boy, he inherits his father’s debt from Yakuza. After meeting with pochita he becomes a devil hunter for Yakuza for clearing his debts. Denji is very poor, he sold his one eye and one kidney for some extra money so he can repay his debt quickly.

How he met pochita and become friends

When Denji was in front of his father’s grave yakuza came and told him to arrange 700,000 yen by tomorrow or else he will kill him. He was thinking about his life being over but then he saw a chainsaw devil who has a wound on his stomach and he is dying from his wounds then Denji says that devils can heal their wounds by drinking human blood so you can take my blood and save your life.
After this incident, Denji and that chainsaw devil became best friends and Denji named him Pochita.

How Denji becomes chainsaw man

Before turning into chainsaw man Denji used to work for Yakuza as a devil hunter to repay his debt. One night a devil controlled Yakuza’s body and takes him to a deserted place and tries to kill Denji and Pochita. In the end, when Denji and pochita were dying Pochita saves Denji by sacrificing himself. Pochita becomes Denji’s heart and made a contract. According to the contract, Denji will show him the life that Denji always wanted to live, and in return Pochita will give him his power and abilities. And now Denji has a cord hanging in his chest and whenever he pulls the cord he becomes chainsaw man.

Chainsawman Denji’s Forms

In the anime and manga of Chainsawman Denji appears in three forms

• Normal human
• Devil hybrid
• Chainsaw devil

Normal human – Before making the contract with pochita Denji used to be a normal human being. In his normal human form, he used to work for Yakuza as a devil hunter.

Devil hybrid – After making the contract with pochita Denji got a devil hybrid body. Where in his chest a cord was hanging which is Pochita’s tail and when he pull the cord he becomes Chainsawman. In this form, Pochita acts as Denji’s heart. In this form, chainsaws come out from his forehead and his hands. In this form, Denji has complete control over his body, with pochita leading his power. when Denji transforms into Chainsawman he starts losing blood while fighting devils. So if Denji does not have enough blood before pulling his cord, only a small part of a chainsaw comes out of his forehead, and in this form, he is weaker than usual.

Chainsaw devil – If the contract between Denji and pochita is somehow temporarily broken Pochita can take over Denji’s body then he can freely turn into his strongest form, removing Denji’s consciousness. But Pochita is still mindful of Denji’s dream and we learn it when we see him eating hamburgers in a restaurant. In the devil form, he has a chainsaw on his forehead as usual, and his intestine emerges from his stomach and wraps around his neck he gains spikes on his shoulder. In this form, he has four arms and a chainsaw coming out of each arm.

Chainsawman Denji’s ability

After becoming Chainsawman Denji gets lots of abilities but we can break down all abilities into two parts.

Common Devil Power – These are the power that most devils have in the Chainsawman series.
Healing – We have seen in the first episode of chainsaw man Denji healed himself when he was dying he just need enough blood to heal himself
Strength – After becoming Chainsawman Denji got immense strength and we can see it in the first episode when he killed all devils by himself.
Stamina – Denji was capable to fight with eternity devil for approximately three days as long as Denji continues to drink blood to recover from his injuries he can fight.
Chainsawman powers – These powers only can be used by the Chainsawman.
Chainsaws – The most obvious power Denji can use is his chainsaws that come out from his forehead and his arms. that’s why he is Chainsawman.
Regeneration – He can regenerate his body parts after becoming Chainsawman and we can see it when he made contact with pochita he regenerated the eye he sold.
Chains – If required Chainsawman can unhook the chains around his chainsaws to use them as hooks and ropes.

Chainsawman Denji weakness

Till now we didn’t see any weakness of Chainsawman but he loses too much blood during the fight and without blood he gets weak.
